Description:

The BalancedForce 212 is Martin Logan’s flagship two-driver, opposing configuration subwoofer. It presents a very dynamic performance and retains an impressive amount of clarity in its reproduction of the lower frequencies. It can be integrated in any system, stereo or home theater, and tailored perfectly for any role.

This subwoofer combines two low-distortion 12” (30.5 cm) woofers and makes them work in complete opposition to nullify the internal force in the cabinet, thus avoiding any distortion causing vibrations. The two woofers pair an aluminum cone diaphragm to a high-power magnet structure to achieve huge excursion and sound output while preserving minute bass details. This allows the BalancedForce 212 to reproduce lower frequencies with dynamics and power and also avoid the bloating or smearing that traditionally design subwoofer might produce.

For this model, Martin Logan used a pair of 850 Watts D-class amplifiers matched with proprietary power supply designs which means a remarkable peak performance of 3400 Watts. The low-noise, high-power transformers and switching power supplies feature high-quality MOSFET transistors, noise-suppression networks, and control circuitry to provide tremendous levels of current with extremely low levels of distortion. This is reinforced by the efficiency of the D-class amplifier pair, which also minimizes distortions.

The performance of the BalancedForce 212 can be optimized through the advanced Perfect Bass Kit (PBK) software configuration. This system uses uses a computer and microphone to listen throughout the listening environment and tailor the sub's performance to the unique acoustic properties of a room, which results in a clean and powerful bass down to the lowest frequencies. The subwoofer’s low-pas filters can also be adjusted to match perfectly any Martin Logan loudspeaker by using a thumb drive and the free download on the company’s website.

The sealed cabinet enhances the versatility of the BalancedForce 212, the absence of bass ports makes the subwoofer’s placement simpler and it affects much less its performance. The many inputs available can be used simultaneously, the connection of both 2-channel stereo music and multi-channel home theater and allows each source to have individual crossover and level settings, giving listeners a perfect performance in every application. LFE input via RCA or XLR effectively uses no low-pass filter, leaving crossover control to the processor. Left and right RCA, XLR, and speaker level inputs integrate discrete user-adjustable or speaker specific custom-installed audiophile grade low-pass filters allowing different level and crossover points when playing back two channel music.
