Grado RS1e headphones - Reference Series

Grado's damping treatments help in dissipating the unwanted dissonances. The 50mm dynamic drivers are component-matched with a 0.05dB discrepancy that is hardly audible, while its cable has an eight-conductor design. Its open-air configuration creates a controlled, coherent and smooth sound with detailed dynamics. As with Grado's studio quality headphones, the RS1e headphones are not bass monsters – as opposed to the standard these days of upping the bass with a cheap amplifier. Once the frequencies go down to 60 Hz, the RS1e provides realistic upper bass, which hits a little harder and reaches deeper. The new cable design exerts more control over the high and low frequencies, and lets Grado's extraordinary midrange sing like never before. It is also more forgiving when it comes to poorly recorded audio, shows no treble fatiguing, is more transparent than the RS1i and has a much deeper and wider soundstage. The Grado RS1e has an impedance of 32 Ω, which is easily driven by all portable players without requiring the use of an headphone amp. If you are planning to try a pair of these headphones, make sure that they are fully run-in. Letting the diaphragm expand makes all the difference in the world. It gives real definition to the music and the silky smooth presentation reminds us once again why Grado excels at crafting beautifully balanced headphones for audiophiles.Audio SpecsTransducer Type: DynamicOperating Principle: Open Air Frequency Response: 12 - 30,000 hz
